SharePoint Reminder Service Configuration

The SharePoint Reminder Service monitors SharePoint and sends out emails according to the rules you have setup in the Reminder Web Parts.

If you have multiple servers in your SharePoint Farm this service must be installed on only ONE front end web server (the web part themselves will be installed or deplyed to all Web Front End servers automatically).

This service is set to run automatically under the NT Authority\System account but you will probably have to change this.

Depending on your SharePoint infrastructure you may have to make configuration changes to give the Reminder Service permission to work with your SharePoint site and database - please consult the guide below.

Reminder is set to use Integrated Windows authentication by default (where sharePoint will pick up your windows login credentials) - if you use Basic authentication you will have to configure this in the Configuration Tool.

Once you've finished installing and configuring Reminder please run the Diagnostics tool to verify that everything is working

80% of problems at this stage are to do with 401 Unauthorized errors, especially the Local Loopback Check
