The Date filter style allows users to select a date filter.

(You don't have to use a Date Picker for dates, you can still use the other Filter Styles if you prefer).

They can either type in a date or select one using the popup Calendar.

The date format specified in your SharePoint Sites regional settings will be used - here its set to US date format (MM/DD/YYYY)

You can set the Default Value to the current date using the [Today] format.

Note - Unless the filter consumer web part supports it you will not be able to filter by date ranges - see Date Filtering in the FAQ.
